The move is driven by the currently booming Texas real estate market, according to a press release.
“Texas is the most exciting market in the country right now with buyers from California, New York and Florida relocating here,” said Eklund, cofounder of The Eklund | Gomes Team, in the press release. “We are looking forward to making real estate history with our new colleagues.”
The brokerage, which is based in New York City, set up its regional headquarters in River Oaks two years ago and already has about 150 Houston agents. With its new goals, Douglas Elliman aims to expand into Dallas and Austin markets and anticipates that its new star-studded staff will bring more national attention to local markets.
The company plans to hire between 100 and 150 agents in Dallas, 50 to 100 agents in Austin and add about 50 to 75 new agents in Houston to help with the expansion. It will be servicing resale, condominium sales, rentals, corporate relocation and builder sales in all three cities. Douglas Elliman is also the only national brokerage with an exclusive condominium sales division in the Lone Star State.
