Stuart Elsea
Stuart Elsea and his brother, Dan, made the natural progression to a career in real estate. After all, their grandfather Staunton established what today is the largest real estate company in Michigan and the 12th largest provider of real estate service in the nation, Real Estate One, Inc.
After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Accounting and then completing his M.B.A. at Miami University, Stuart set the precedence for his current position as President of Financial Services by working as a tax analyst and internal auditor for Armco Inc, in Middleton, Ohio from 1980 to 1982.
He then joined Real Estate One in 1982, acting as Budget Director for four years. Next a three-year stint in sales and branch management led to his being named Vice President of the Northeast Region and Affiliated Businesses in 1989. Stuart served that roll until 1998, when he was appointed to his current position.
As President of Financial Services, Stuart continues oversight of the affiliated businesses – John Adams Mortgage, Capital Title Insurance, Insurance One, Relocation America, Corporate Relocation Service – which all have each grown in both revenue and profitability since he became involved. Stuart heads the company’s ever-expanding Real Estate One Franchising and oversees the Real Estate One Academy, a training and continued education center for new and current agents.
Two other important areas Stuart is the driving force behind are agent recruiting and the Real Estate One Foundation. In his tenure as President, Stuart has overseen the growth of Real Estate One’s sales force from approximately 1,000 agents to more than 1,900. At the same time he has championed company-wide support of the Foundation, which supports the American Cancer Society and Special Olympics of Michigan, raising more than $89,000 in 2003.
The financial world is Stuart’s field of expertise and he is well versed in topics such as the economy, real estate market, sales training, and the mortgage, title insurance and relocation industries.
Outside of the office, Stuart remains heavily involved in the industry as member of the National Association of Realtors Board of Directors, where he has served on the Business Issues, Communications and Conventional Financing committees. He also belongs to the Michigan Association of Realtors, the Western Wayne Oakland County Board of Realtors and the Realty Alliance.
When not influencing the financial success of the 75-year-old company, Stuart enjoys spending time with his wife and twin sons, as well as boating, exercising, reading and playing golf.
