Peter Hunt
Peter F. Hunt is Chairman and CEO of Hunt Real Estate Corporation. Under his leadership, Hunt Real Estate Corporation’s sales volume has risen to over $1.8 Billion in 2008. Since 1984, Mr. Hunt has founded Devere Capital Corporation, a mortgage banking firm, Hunt-Vanner Agency, a general insurance agency, Realty Express, a fee-for-service real estate brokerage, and The Realty Club, a membership organization supplying homeownership services. In 1992, Mr. Hunt acquired a title agency and formed Network Title Agency of New York. In March 2001, Hunt Real Estate expanded into Rochester, New York through the acquisition of Judy Columbus Real Estate and Relocation and has since acquired seven additional offices and opened two new offices in Syracuse. In 2002, Mr. Hunt and his brother, Stephen Hunt, merged Hunt Commercial Real Estate Corporation back into Hunt Real Estate Corporation. Hunt Real Estate joined the ERA system in March, 2002, now operating as Hunt Real Estate ERA in Buffalo-Niagara, Rochester, Syracuse, Florida and Phoenix with a total of 36 residential and two commercial sales offices.
Mr. Hunt was a member of the Charter Class (1981) of Leadership Buffalo and the first class (1992) of Business First’s “40 Under Forty”. In 1996, Mr. Hunt received on behalf of Hunt Real Estate Corporation, the “Family Business of the Year” award from the Canisius College Center for Entrepreneurship. Cendant Mobility, the nation’s leading relocation management firm, awarded Mr. Hunt with the “Cendant Mobility Cup” in 1998 and the Cendant Mobility “Masters Cup” in 2001, 2003, and again in 2005, which are generally considered the highest honors in the relocation real estate industry. Mr. Hunt was Muscular Dystrophy Association’s “Executive of the Year” Award in 2002, and the “Business Executive of the Year” by Canisius College in October 2003. Mr. Hunt and his wife, Mary Jo, were named “Citizens of the Year” by the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Foundation in September 2004. Most recently, Mr. Hunt and his wife were honored with receiving the “President’s Volunteer Service Award” (awarded for the year 2004) from President George Bush’s Council of Service and Civic Participation.
Mr. Hunt is active in the local community, having served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daemen College from 1993-2003. He is Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the YMCA of Greater Buffalo, having also served as the Y’s chairman of its Board of Directors. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and served on its Executive Committee from 1997-2003. Mr. Hunt is also a member of the Young President’s Organization, past chair of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County and co-chair of the 2004 Campaign with his wife, Mary Jo. He is a founding member and director of the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation and a founding member of 43x79. Mr. Hunt also served as a member of the Business Backs the Bills committee. Mr. Hunt is currently Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees, St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY. Mr. Hunt also has been active in youth hockey as a coach.
A Western New York native, Peter F. Hunt graduated from Amherst High School and St. Lawrence University (Canton, New York, BA-Government), and is currently a candidate for a Master of Science degree in Executive Leadership and Change from Daemen College.
